Susan
and Al, Registered Maine Guides, have lead wilderness
canoe, hiking and kayak expeditions for over two decades.
Drawing on their experiences as educators in the Maine Public School
System, they lead numerous student, and adult groups in a variety
of places and on different types of trips. Participants range
from beginners to those with extensive outdoor knowledge.
Their
expeditions include simple day trips in the mountains,
extended camping trips, river expeditions and kayaking in
venues such as the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, the Penobscot
River Corridor, St. Croix River, Newfoundland, Quebec, Maine and
Labrador.
Within each trip, Al and Susan integrate training in map and compass
reading, outdoor cooking, animal and bird observation, and information
on local vegetation. For those clients wishing to increase their
skills in canoeing, kayaking, camping, and hiking, Susan and Al
include individualized skill building
Both
Al and Susan are trained in Basic
and Wilderness First Aid. They bring to each adventure their
enthusiasm, knowledge and love of the outdoors which they share
eagerly with each and every client.
